For example, the chapter talks about the humans who interact with these beings and become a support mechanism for them. There’s a little more than just that, of course, and those familiar with any of the various Werewolf incarnations will find it instantly recognizable. This 216 page black and white hardcover showcases average production values for its $31.99 price tag. The werecreatures here lack the wonder of the older Changing Breeds books. The Bad: There is no real purpose behind these supernatural creatures other than “humans bad.” The writing is boring to read and often feels padded, with a large volume of text often offering little useful information. Fans of the environmental focus of Werewolf: The Apocalypse may find that this product reminds them of an old favorite. New types of werecreatures are readily inferred from the existing templates. The Good: A large variety of mechanical options aid players in customizing their werecreature. If you already have something in mind and just want the tools to do it then this product will work fine for you, but if you’re expecting an enchanting and exciting new addition to the World of Darkness then give this one a pass. Unfortunately, unnecessarily verbose writing, poor conceptualization, and a tedious presentation result in a product that only offers basic mechanics for a concept that isn’t quite realized. A large variety of tools are presented to make this possible, along with plenty of interesting werecreatures to start with. In Short Changing Breeds promises an opportunity to roleplay as half-animal half-human shapeshifters beyond the classic werewolves.
